Uzbekistan and United States Expand Cooperation in Space and Digital Technologies

Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov held talks with John Ahn, Senior Specialist for Business Development at the Export-Import Bank of the United States, to explore avenues for expanding bilateral collaboration.
The meeting addressed the development of cooperation in space technologies, artificial intelligence, IT infrastructure and digital hubs, alongside the implementation of joint investment projects. Particular attention was given to Uzbekistan’s national space program, including plans to launch its first artificial satellite and advance Earth remote sensing initiatives, as well as the creation of a modern and resilient digital infrastructure.
Both sides also discussed the role of US products and services in projects, emphasizing the importance of aligning joint initiatives with relevant financing requirements and frameworks.
The Uzbek side outlined ongoing efforts to position the country as a regional IT hub, including the establishment of specialized centers, expansion of digital service exports, and the creation of favorable conditions for international technology companies.
Participants highlighted Uzbekistan’s strong human capital base, the rapid growth of its IT sector, and comprehensive measures aimed at supporting a dynamic startup ecosystem.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to further expand cooperation in space technologies, artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure, and to continue joint work on the development and implementation of targeted investment projects.
